About Wylie

Growth remains a consistent theme in the Wylie Independent School District. District enrollment is approaching 4600 students, and we have more than 530 staff members working hard to prepare our students for their futures!

To serve these students, we recently opened Phase one of Wylie East Elementary School, which includes grades Pre-K through 1st grade. As we look to the 2019-2020 school year, we will have completed Phase two of Wylie East Elementary which will then house all Pre-K through 4th grade students. Another exciting project that will be completed and open for the 2019-2020 school year, is the new Wylie East Junior High that will include grades 5-8. All Pre-K through 8th grade students who live East of Highway 83/84 will attend the East campuses. This is an exciting step for our district as our numbers continue to climb and having two Junior High campuses will ensure that more children will be given opportunities to be involved in extracurricular activities.  We are ready to welcome our current and future students to schools that can effectively provide a quality education.

Wylie ISD continues to work to make sure students can succeed in life and work once they graduate. Our high school is adding an ACT/SAT Preparation Course for our college bound students next year that will lead to higher scores, more scholarships and higher acceptance rates. We are also expanding our course offerings to include Anatomy and Physiology as well as Medical Terminology. With so many of our students looking to pursue careers in the medical field, we know that this will be an integral addition to our course offerings for our students who are looking to further their knowledge in the areas of health and medicine. We are also adding a MedLife organization chapter which impacts the local community by participating in local volunteering events, social organization initiatives, and spreading awareness about global poverty, public health, and global development issues. MedLife members then attend one-week Service-Learning Trips in where they will have the opportunity to shadow local doctors at our mobile medical clinics as well as work hand-in-hand with communities on a development project. We know that offering these medical courses will be a benefit to our students who may be interested in pursuing a career in health.

Wylie ISD is committed to providing safe schools where students are empowered to follow their dreams and be successful. It is because of our supportive community that we have the privilege and ability to do so and our hope is that we can continue growing and extending our opportunities for all students!
