Superintendent's Message

Welcome to Wylie Independent School District! I hope you will explore our Web site to learn more about our district, including our goals and achievements. This site is designed to be a resource for the entire community as we raise the bar and provide the instruction and the support every student needs for academic success. On our Parents' page, you’ll find links to bus schedules, lunch menus, health requirements, enrollment/application procedures, and other resources that help parents stay fully engaged throughout their child’s education. You may also want to visit the Web pages of individual schools. The Students' page offers online homework help, links to other Web sites that let students practice their skills, and even educational games. The Students' page also provides information on sports, clubs, and other school activities. Wylie I.S.D. is a community that passionately cares about education. Working together, we can ensure all students are able to grow academically in a learning environment that ultimately prepares them to succeed in a global, knowledge-based economy.

Sincerely,
Joey Light,  Superintendent

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) recently launched an online survey offering parents, taxpayers and the general public an avenue to provide input on the state’s implementation of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). ESSA, which is the new federal law governing K-12 education and replaces the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, returns a significant amount of decision-making on education policy to the states.

Commissioner of Education Mike Morath has stated,  “We need input from all parts of our state to ensure that, under ESSA, all students in Texas can receive a high-quality education that prepares them for the future.” The online ESSA survey, which will take less than ten minutes to complete, is available at the following link:
