The Grace Museum and artist Carlyn Ray invited WHS advanced art students to create blown glass for a fused piece that will be incorporated into a sculpture on display in the new Heritage Square in Abilene. What an incredible opportunity for our students not only to learn, but to make their mark in Abilene.

The 3rd Annual WHS Sock Drive kicks off tomorrow! All socks will be donated to a local non-profit for the Abilene homeless community. Socks should be turned into student's 3rd period class. The top 3 collecting classes will win a hot chocolate bar next week!

Arabella Dlugiewicz and Canyon South were awarded scholarships for earning first place overall at the Texas Tech Fall Fandango. Arabella received a $300 scholarship for her top score in Literary Criticism, while Canyon earned a $500 scholarship for placing first in Social Studies. Their achievements highlighted an excellent start to the competition season for Wylie’s UIL Academics team.

The JV Boys Golf Team competed in the San Angelo Classic over this past weekend. Carson McElhaney made a hole in one on the 210 yard 2nd hole at Quicksand Golf Course using a 7 iron. It was Carson's first career hole in one. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Mrs. Hood on being named the The Shed Market WHS Teacher of the 2nd Six Weeks. Students nominated teachers that have made an impact on them during their time at Wylie High School. The winning teacher earns this great title and a gift card from The Shed Market. Thank you to The Shed for valuing our teachers!
One student wrote, "Mrs. Hood is very good at teaching her subject and getting things done. Not only is she diligent with her job she is kind and friendly with her students. She does her best to accommodate students schedule and provide them with what they need for their education. She is goofy and fun to be around, i was super scared for the honors class but Mrs. Hood had relieved some of that worry."
