Wylie ISD Celebrates Campus Teachers of the Year
The sound arrived before the surprise did.
Down the hallway came the music, the cheers, the purple and gold energy and the kind of commotion that makes students lean forward just a little to see what is coming around the corner. Then came Spike, the Belles (with new uniforms), cheerleaders, band members, Superintendent Joey Light and administrators with one happy mission: celebrate Wylie ISD’s 2025-26 Campus Teachers of the Year.
All morning, the celebration rolled from campus to campus with Transportation Director Mr. Bacon behind the wheel of the party bus. At each stop, students filled hallways and gyms, clapping and cheering as the winners were revealed. Fellow teachers smiled, hugged and applauded for their coworkers. Some families were even in on the surprise, making the moment even sweeter.
There was music. There was laughter. There was at least one impromptu breakdance that kept the crowd fired up. And everywhere the prize patrol went, there was the same feeling: this district knows how to rally around its people.
This year’s 2025-26 Campus Teachers of the Year are:
Early Childhood: Lacey Kennedy
West Elementary: Tammara Lackey
East Elementary: Amy Hess
East Intermediate: Lisa Boeshart
West Intermediate: Julie Brown
East Junior High: Jeanette Rodriguez
West Junior High: Stephanie Barham
Wylie High School: Holly Kirby
“These teachers represent the very best of Wylie ISD,” Superintendent Joey Light said. “They love students well, support their campuses and make a difference day after day. It was special to see the whole district come together to celebrate them because they are so deserving of this recognition.”
A special thank you goes to Principal Reagan Berry for helping coordinate the event and to every student, staff member and family member who helped make the morning memorable.
By the end of the route, the music had faded and the party bus had parked, but the message was still ringing through every campus: Wylie is full of teachers worth celebrating.
And mornings like this remind us once again - it’s great to be a Wylie Bulldog!
