Four Wylie campuses earn A ratings as the district maintains a strong B
Report cards are familiar territory around a school district. This time, however, the report card belongs to the schools themselves.
The Texas Education Agency recently released its 2026 A-F Accountability Ratings, and Wylie ISD earned an overall score of 88, a B rating. Even more encouraging, four of Wylie ISD's six independently rated campuses earned an A.
Wylie East Elementary earned a 91, Wylie West Intermediate a 90, Wylie East Junior High a 91 and Wylie West Junior High a 90. Wylie High School earned an 85/B, while Wylie East Intermediate received a 79/C.
One of the bright spots was Wylie East Junior High, which moved from an 89/B last year to a 91/A this year.
What does a TEA rating actually measure?
Think of it like a report card with three big subjects.
Student Achievement asks, "How well did students perform?"
School Progress asks, "How much did students grow?"
Closing the Gaps asks, "Are different groups of students making the progress they need to make?"
TEA combines those measures to create an overall A-F rating. The district's Student Achievement score improved from 87 to 88 this year. TEA provides a more detailed explanation of each part of the system through its How Accountability Ratings Work resource.
Why aren't all Wylie campuses listed separately?
This part of the accountability system can be a little confusing.
STAAR testing begins in third grade. Under TEA rules, campuses serving only grade levels that do not take STAAR are paired with another campus for accountability purposes.
For Wylie ISD, Wylie West Elementary and Wylie West Early Childhood Center are paired with Wylie West Intermediate. That means their state accountability rating is connected to West Intermediate's results rather than being calculated as a separate STAAR-based campus score. To keep the chart from counting the same accountability results more than once, we are showing Wylie's six independently calculated campus scores. TEA publishes its statewide paired-campus information as part of the 2026 accountability resources.
Wylie South Elementary is also not included in the 2026 ratings. South opened for the 2026-27 school year, while these accountability ratings measure the previous school year. Its first accountability results will come in a future rating cycle.
Accountability ratings are an important snapshot, but one letter never tells the whole story. Behind every number are students learning, teachers adjusting, families encouraging and campuses working every day to get a little better.
And that may be the most important part of the report card of all.
