Wylie Independent School District is proud to announce the hiring of two new varsity soccer coaches who bring a wealth of experience, passion, and leadership to our athletics program. Cory Oglesby has been named the new Head Coach for Varsity Girls Soccer, and Javier Zaragoza will lead the Varsity Boys Soccer team beginning in the 2025 season.

Growing the Bulldog Legacy: Girls Soccer Welcomes Cory Oglesby

Wylie ISD is proud to welcome Cory Oglesby as the new Varsity Girls Soccer Coach. With 20 years of experience in coaching and a collegiate playing career at Texas A&M University–Commerce, Coach Oglesby brings both skill and heart to the program. She has coached at multiple high-performing high schools across the state and most recently led the girls' program at Abilene High School.

Originally from Irving, Texas, Oglesby is passionate about building strong, confident student-athletes on and off the field.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Wylie ISD and becoming part of such a supportive and growing community,” Oglesby said. “Wylie’s commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics aligns perfectly with my passion for helping students grow and thrive.”

Coach Oglesby and her husband, Rusty (head women’s soccer coach at Hardin-Simmons University), have three young children and are excited to put down roots in the Wylie community.

Building Leaders: Javier Zaragoza Named Boys Soccer Coach

Wylie ISD is equally excited to announce Javier Zaragoza as the new Varsity Boys Soccer Coach. Originally from San Antonio, Coach Zaragoza brings a global perspective and a strong track record in both high school and collegiate coaching. He played at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and spent time overseas in England as a player before diving into coaching, sports science, and strength training.

His passion for mentoring student-athletes is evident both in and out of competition.

“Excited to join an athletic department with a tradition of excellence and historic success,” Zaragoza shared. “My family and I are looking forward to raising our children in this community and contributing to the proud Bulldog tradition.”

Zaragoza and his wife Mary, along with their two young children, are eager to become part of the Wylie family.

Fostering Community Through Athletics

Both coaches exemplify the values Wylie ISD holds dear: academic excellence, competitive spirit, character development, and community engagement. As our district continues to grow, we're proud to attract leaders who will build lasting programs and strong student-athletes.
