The August Wylie ISD Board of Trustees meeting covered important updates as the district prepares for the new school year.

Trustees approved the 2025–26 Student Code of Conduct, reflecting state-required changes such as adjusted discipline for vaping offenses and a district-wide ban on student use of personal communication devices during the school day. The Board also adopted updated policies on instructional resources and library materials to meet Senate Bill 13 requirements, with staff already working ahead to publish classroom and library book lists for parents.

Academic success was a highlight, with 2025 STAAR scores showing Wylie students performing well above state and regional averages in most subjects. The district met both of its House Bill 3 goals in third-grade reading and math.

The Board reviewed bond project updates, including ongoing construction at the new elementary school, Ag building, West Junior High track, and various campus improvements.

Trustees also approved the Teacher Incentive Allotment spending plan, reaffirmed the district’s school marshal program, and set August 25 as the public hearing date for the 2025–26 budget and proposed tax rate.

It’s another step forward in a busy year for Wylie ISD — and proof of the district’s commitment to safe, strong, and high-achieving schools.
