The Wylie ISD Board of Trustees gathered this month to review district progress, celebrate achievements, and make important financial decisions that will shape the future of our schools.

The evening began with a heartfelt prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by public comments. A parent advocated for the Wylie gymnastics program to be recognized as an official UIL sport. Trustees encouraged him to connect with district leadership to continue the conversation.

Celebrating Staff Behind the Scenes

Administrators took a moment to honor the “unsung heroes” who keep Wylie running—registrars, payroll staff, HR, transportation, custodians, and more. Their behind-the-scenes work during the busy start of school ensures smooth days for students and staff alike.

Finances and Bond Updates

Trustees reviewed August financials, noting strong cash on hand and healthy revenue. The district is working to maximize Teacher Incentive Allotment opportunities for staff while also transitioning banking partners to secure better interest rates.

A major agenda item was approving a refinancing plan for 2018 bonds. By refinancing at lower interest rates, the district expects to save an estimated $1.1 million over the life of the bonds—funds that can be reinvested into classrooms and facilities.

Campus Spotlights

Principals from across the district shared highlights:

  • Early Childhood – A strong start with family engagement events, character education, and upcoming field trips.

  • Wylie East Elementary – Celebrated a “Purple Star Campus” designation for service to military families and continued success with the “Strive for Five” attendance campaign.

  • Wylie West Elementary – Preparing for Veterans Day programs, art events, and completing needed HVAC and roof work.

  • Intermediate Campuses – Reported enrollment growth, spirited homecoming activities, and creative additions like leadership clubs, safety programs, and even a new Jumbotron at Wylie East Intermediate.

Construction Progress

Bond projects are steadily advancing. The new agricultural building is framed and sheetrock is underway, the new elementary school on Hwy 707 is rising quickly, and roofing and facility improvements continue districtwide. Road improvements around campuses are being coordinated with TxDOT to ensure safe access when new schools open.
