Clear information. Real results. What it means for Wylie families.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has released the 2024–25 Federal Report Cards, providing families and communities with a transparent look at how public schools are performing across Texas. As required under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), these reports include state-, district-, and campus-level data for Wylie Independent School District.

Federal Report Cards are designed to answer three key questions for families:

  1. How is the school system performing overall?

  2. How are students growing academically over time?

  3. How does performance compare to the region and the state?

What Is the Federal Report Card?

Think of the Federal Report Card as a snapshot of school performance, using consistent measures across every public school in Texas. It does not rank schools, but instead provides clear data so families can better understand outcomes and progress.

The report includes information required by ESSA and compiled by TEA, such as:

  • STAAR academic performance

  • Student academic growth

  • Graduation rates

  • English learner progress

  • College, career, and military readiness (CCMR)

  • Teacher experience and credentials

  • Per-pupil spending

  • School climate and safety data

A full description of what is included can be found in the TEA guidance document.

How to Read the Report Card

Here’s a plain-language guide to the most common sections families will see:

📘 Student Achievement (STAAR)

Shows how many students performed at Approaches, Meets, and Masters Grade Level in:

  • Reading/ELA

  • Mathematics

  • Science

These results include all students tested, not just those counted for accountability.

📈 Academic Growth

Measures whether students made year-to-year progress, regardless of where they started. Growth is especially important because it shows learning gains over time—not just a single test score.

🎓 Graduation Rate

Reports the four-year graduation rate for the Class of 2024, showing how many students completed high school on time.

🌍 English Learner Progress

Uses TELPAS data to show how students learning English are progressing toward language proficiency.

🏫 College, Career & Military Readiness (CCMR)

Indicates how well high school students are being prepared for life after graduation through:

  • College coursework or certifications

  • Career pathways and industry credentials

  • Military readiness benchmarks

👩‍🏫 Teacher & School Information

Includes teacher experience, certification data, and per-pupil expenditures to provide transparency into how schools are staffed and funded.

How Wylie ISD Excels

The 2024–25 Federal Report Card data shows strong academic performance for Wylie ISD, with multiple areas where our students outperform both Region 14 and the State of Texas.

📊 Highlighted Example from the Report Card Data

  • End-of-Course (EOC) Algebra I – Approaches Grade Level

    • Wylie ISD: 90%

    • Region 14: 81%

    • State of Texas: 76%

➡️ Wylie students scored 9 points higher than the region and 14 points higher than the state, demonstrating strong foundational math instruction and student growth.

Additional district and campus-level results across reading, math, graduation rates, and college/career readiness reflect a continued commitment to academic excellence and student support.

(All performance data is reported by TEA and included in the official Federal Report Card.)

Why This Matters for Families

Federal Report Cards are one of several tools families can use to:

  • Understand how schools are performing academically

  • See how students are growing over time

  • Compare district performance to regional and state benchmarks

  • Ask informed questions and stay engaged in their child’s education

They are not a single measure of success, but rather a broad picture of student learning, growth, and opportunity.
