ABILENE, Texas — The Wylie Lady Bulldogs opened district play in emphatic fashion, defeating the Cooper Lady Cougars 72–12 in the district opener for both teams.
Wylie entered the matchup ranked No. 21 and riding momentum with a 19–5 record, while Cooper looked to snap a nine-game skid. From the opening tip, the Lady Bulldogs set the tone, scoring 15 unanswered points in the first quarter to take firm control of the game.
In the second quarter, Ava Jarrett knocked down back-to-back three-pointers, pushing Wylie’s lead to 23. Jarrett led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring at halftime and finished the game with 14 points.
Londyn Franklin paced all scorers with 17 points as Wylie cruised to the 72–12 victory, improving to 20–5 on the season. Cooper was led by Ciara Jackson, who finished with four points.
Up next, the Lady Bulldogs return home to host Wichita Falls Legacy on Tuesday, January 13, with tipoff set for 6:00 p.m. The Lady Cougars will travel to Abilene High for the Crosstown Showdown that same evening.
