On any given day in Wylie ISD, love looks a lot like lesson plans, pep rallies, carpool duty, and a quick wave across the hallway between class periods.
There are dozens of couples who serve our students side by side. This Valentine’s season, we’re spotlighting twelve — just a glimpse of the love that works here under the same purple and gold roof. Their stories, in their own words, remind us that partnership is one of the strongest foundations we can model for our students.
Scott & Jennie Weatherman
Wylie High School | Married 13 years

“We met in high school at Central High School in JROTC. What I love most about working next door to Jennie is that we are always right there to help each other. We share our lab space and creativity, dress up together on spirit days, and even match our wardrobes daily!”
Best Valentine’s Gift: “Nothing tops the gift of her love and spending time together.”
Heather & Kyle McDonald
East Elementary & Wylie High School | Married 17 years

“We met in college studying music at UNC (University of Northern Colorado). I love that some of my students will become his students one day. We teach the same subject at different grade levels.”
Best Valentine’s Gift: “We aren’t big on Valentine’s Day gifts, but he has given me beautiful flowers. This year we’re celebrating in Fredericksburg.”
Tim & Brandy Pipes
East Intermediate & West Junior High | Together 27+ years

“Brandy heard Tim sing and was twitterpated. Working together at Wylie finally syncopates our schedules after years of law enforcement callouts, SWAT responses, and Homicide Unit shifts taking Tim away from family time.”
Best Valentine’s Gift: “Homemade heartfelt cards and candies from Brandy to Tim 27 years ago.”
Samantha & Joshua Howeth
East Junior High & Wylie High School | Married 6 years

“I love that we get to share students. They leave me after 8th grade and so many of them go to him their freshman year in band. It’s exciting to watch them grow and stay involved in their lives beyond the one year I typically get.”
Best Valentine’s Gift: “We gift experiences — our summer trips paid for as Valentine’s gifts are my favorite.”
Shelly & Cody Brotherton
West Junior High | Married 18 years

“We met my first week at college and have been best friends since. We both teach 8th grade math, and I even get to teach our son in Investigative Math. Both of our kids are Bulldogs and we love working in the district.”
Best Valentine’s Gift: “Our first Valentine’s Day, Cody brought flowers not just to me, but to my mom and sister too. I knew then he was a keeper.”
Amy & Mike Fecci
Wylie ISD Administration | Married 27 years

“We were introduced by my friend whose dad was Mike’s college football coach. I love sharing daily experiences — pep rallies, games, competitions — and the fun little moments when we randomly run into each other around the district.”
Best Valentine’s Gift: “My first cell phone our first year of marriage — it weighed about five pounds. Mike’s favorite was a college scavenger hunt I sent him on around Abilene.”
Helene & Army Garcia
East Intermediate & East Elementary | Married 2 years

“We met at Hendrick Hospital where we both worked in the same department on different shifts. One day I needed help at the trash compactor outside, and there he was. We started talking and it took off from there. We were married in 2023. He’s my best friend and we love riding to work together.”
Best Valentine’s Gift: “My husband’s love — that’s all I need.”
Krystal & Grant Martin
Wylie High School | Married 18 years

“Working together is actually a lot of fun. I love the daily visits — maybe interruptions — from Grant. With him coaching baseball and me coaching cheer, it’s special to know each other’s athletes on a different level.”
Best Valentine’s Gift: “Our first real date was on Valentine’s Day in 2007 at Cypress Street.”
Melissa & Lance Thornton
East Elementary & West Junior High | Married 15 years

“We met while working at Bee Cave Elementary in Austin. Being in the same district allows us to serve the community we call home and share the same schedule.”
Best Valentine’s Gift: “Every day with my amazing hubby is the best gift.”
Jaclyn & Jason Meng
East Intermediate & Wylie High School | Married 25 years

“We are high school sweethearts. I love that my students and I root for the same team on Friday nights when I cheer on my husband and his team.”
Best Valentine’s Gift: “Our first Valentine’s Day, we flew to San Antonio for lunch at the River Walk and flew back that afternoon.”
Jessica & David McIntire
East Elementary & Wylie High School | Married 24 years

“I teach some of the same students who will be in my husband’s class in high school. It’s special to share that connection.”
Best Valentine’s Gift: “Any time we spend together.”
Cinnamon & Mike Thompson
East Elementary & Wylie ISD Administration | Married 10 years

“We met playing coed church league softball. I introduced myself to Mike in right field and told him I wasn’t planning to catch any balls that came my way.”
Best Valentine’s Gift: “He told me ‘love you’ on Valentine’s Day 2014. He left off the ‘I,’ so I analyzed it with my girlfriends all night. We decided it counted.”
These twelve couples are just a snapshot of the many who serve shoulder to shoulder across our campuses. They share students, schedules, Friday night lights, and the everyday joys and challenges of education.
Under the same purple and gold roof, love shows up in matching Spirit Day outfits, in shared pep rallies, in car rides to work, and in the simple gift of time together.
In Wylie ISD, love works here.
And that’s just one more reason why it’s great to be a Wylie Bulldog. 💜💛
