There’s a quiet kind of heroism that happens in small rooms across our district.
It’s the kind that involves sharpened pencils, careful listening, stacks of paperwork, and conversations that can change the trajectory of a child’s life. It’s the steady, thoughtful work of our educational diagnosticians - the professionals who help us truly see every student.
This week, the State of Texas has officially proclaimed March 2-6, 2026, as Educational Diagnosticians’ Week. In the Governor’s words, educational diagnosticians are often the first to recognize and assess student learning challenges, collaborating with teachers and families to ensure every child receives the support needed to reach their full potential.
Here in Wylie ISD, that work is carried out by an exceptional team:
Mary Edmondson
Amy Piearcy
Angelita Stephenson
Savannah Maberry
Misty McWilliams
Haley Herrera
Ruth Shaner
Rachel Hamilton
Kathryn Mancini
Tera Beltz
Carissa Puls
These women serve behind the scenes, but their impact is front and center in the lives of our students and families.
They translate data into direction. They translate concerns into plans. They translate uncertainty into understanding. Their work is detailed and precise, but it is also deeply personal. At the end of every evaluation is a child with big dreams and a family hoping for clarity.
Educational diagnosticians help hold the ladder steady so students can climb. Their patience, expertise, and compassion create lasting impact that stretches far beyond a single school year.
To our incredible diagnosticians, thank you for advocating for kids, partnering with teachers, and walking alongside families with grace and care.
Because when every student is seen, supported, and valued, our entire community is stronger.
And that’s just one more reason it’s great to be a Wylie Bulldog. 🐾
Texas Governor's Proclamation
This week, the State of Texas has officially proclaimed March 2–6, 2026, as Educational Diagnosticians’ Week. In the Governor’s words:
“As we work toward a strong and prosperous future, investing in the education of our children remains essential. To keep young Texans on a path toward success, they must receive a rigorous and well-rounded education that meets their individual needs. When students face learning challenges, educational diagnosticians are often the first professionals to recognize and assess those needs.
Through specialized training and evidence-based practices, educational diagnosticians identify learning disabilities and provide critical insight that supports both students and educators. By collaborating with teachers and adapting to the evolving needs of learners, they recommend effective instructional strategies that empower students to reach their full potential. Their dedication leaves a lasting impact, fostering both academic achievement and a lifelong love of learning.
Each year, a week in March is dedicated to recognizing the commitment and expertise of educational diagnosticians and highlighting their vital role in our education system. At this time, I encourage all Texans to acknowledge their invaluable contributions, which help ensure a brighter future for the next generation.”
